WeBizz for the UNOSAT Challenge: Artificial Intelligence to rebuild a country
As Project Partner and Communication Responsible of Phi-Unet (project powered by the European Space Agency), WeBizz is thrilled to announce the launch of the UNOSAT Challenge.
The Challenge is organized for UNOSAT (United Nations) in partnership with UNOSAT, the European Space Agency, and with the technical advisory of CERN openlab.
Another important partner of the Challenge is RUS Copernicus which will provide candidates with free access to RUS Virtual Machines.
The goal of the Challenge is to build an artificial intelligence model based on earth observation data to help UNOSAT detect building footprints in Iraq.
The request of footprints comes from UNFPA, the United Nations Population Funds, which is assisting the Government of Iraq in the local census, crucial information source for the strategic planning of development and reconstruction activities.
The Challenge is a unique opportunity for students and startups in technical areas to work with 3 great international organizations – UNOSAT (United Nations) and the European Space Agency and CERN – on a humanitarian cause. Best projects will be able to work together with UNOSAT and CERN people and bring their model to reality.
The Challenge will be deployed in two phases: during Phase 1 candidates will have to detect urban areas using Sentinel-1 Data Provided by ESA and DLR.
During Phase 2 candidates will have to build an artificial intelligence model to detect building footprints using very high resolution imagery (VHR) provided by UNOSAT.
Registration is free of charge and can be done from the website www.challenge.phi-unet.com (website designed and developed by WeBizz)
