Dynamic Image Extensions and Image extensions (now in beta) are a great feature in Google Ads, which allows you to show an image when your ad shows up in Google.

Both extensions can boost your advertising impact and value by showing visually relevant information that is difficult to convey with text only.

This way you can improve your campaign’s performance with compelling visuals of your products or your services that enhance the message of their text ads.

How Dynamic Image Extensions and Image Extensions work

When your image or dynamic image extension appears on the Google search results page, potential customers see:

  • Your headlines
  • Your descriptions
  • Your URL
  • Your image

The image and dynamic image extension will take people to the same landing page as the headline in your ad.

When someone clicks on them, you will be charged the same CPC as a click to a text headline.

Dynamic Image Extensions versus Image Extensions

With Image Extensions it will be you to choose the image to show up with your ads.

With Dynamic Image Extensions, the image will be automatically chosen by the system based on the contents of your landing page.

In particular, Google Ads will select and extract images from your landing page that are most relevant to the query based on the ad’s landing page.

It is recommended to use image extensions and dynamic image extensions together. In this case, image extensions will always serve over dynamic image extensions.
